ProBer is a marketplace that connects people who need local services ("clients") with independent professionals who provide them ("providers"), through two companion apps — ProBer Client and ProBer Provider. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect from users of either app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have over it. By creating an account or using either app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and a password. Your password is never stored in plain text — it is hashed using industry-standard one-way hashing before it ever touches our database, so even we cannot see or recover it.
Location data
Clients: when you submit a service request, we collect the GPS coordinates or address you provide for that job, so we can match you with a nearby provider and give directions. Providers: we collect the service area you set in your profile (a general radius or set of zones), and, while you are online and actively available for jobs, an approximate current location so we can match you to nearby requests. ProBer does not track your location continuously in the background when the app is closed or when a provider is offline — location is only used to power live matching and to display job progress on a map during an active request.
Payment information
We never collect or store your raw card number, CVV, or full card details on our servers. All card data is entered directly into forms hosted by our payment processor, Stripe, and is sent directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection. ProBer only stores a reference token issued by Stripe and non-sensitive display information such as the card brand (e.g. Visa, Mastercard) and the last four digits, so you can recognize a saved card in the app. Provider payouts are handled the same way, through Stripe Connect — we store your Stripe Connect account reference, not your bank account or debit card numbers.
Identity verification documents (providers only)
To keep the platform trustworthy, providers must submit documents for review before they can accept jobs — this may include a government-issued ID, proof of professional insurance, and trade certifications or licenses relevant to their category. These documents are reviewed by our verification team solely to confirm identity and qualifications, are stored in access-controlled, encrypted storage, and are not shared publicly or with clients — clients only ever see your name, category, tier, rating, and review history.
Usage data
We keep a record of your service request history, the ratings and written reviews you give or receive, and any messages you send through our in-app support or contact tools. We use this to operate the marketplace (e.g. showing your past requests, calculating a provider's average rating) and to respond to support requests.
Device & push notification data
We collect a device push notification token (issued by Apple, Google, or our notification provider) so we can send you time-sensitive alerts — for example, a new job offer, a status update on your request, or a message from support. We also collect basic device and app version information for crash diagnostics and compatibility.
2. How we use this information
- Matching clients with nearby, qualified, available providers
- Processing payments and provider payouts securely through Stripe
- Verifying provider identity and qualifications before granting access to jobs
- Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and policy violations
- Sending push notifications and transactional emails about your requests, payments, and account
- Providing customer support and investigating support tickets or problem reports
- Calculating ratings, tiers, and other quality signals that keep the marketplace trustworthy
- Improving and troubleshooting the apps (e.g. diagnosing crashes, understanding feature usage)
We do not use your data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without human review.
3. Third parties we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum data necessary with the following service providers so ProBer can function:
- Stripe — processes all payments and provider payouts on our behalf, and stores your card and bank details directly (ProBer never receives them). See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Expo — delivers push notifications to your device on our behalf, using your device push token. See Expo's Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ProBer, our users, or the public.
4. Data retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your profile information within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted to retain it, specifically:
- Transaction and payment records are retained as required by tax, accounting, and financial regulations, even after account deletion.
- Provider verification documents are retained for the period required to demonstrate compliance with our verification process, then securely deleted.
- Records needed to resolve an open dispute, support ticket, or investigation are retained until that matter is resolved.
5. Your rights
You can review and update most of your account information directly in the app. You also have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to request that inaccurate data be corrected, and to request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to the retention exceptions described above.
To request access, correction, or deletion of your data, email us at essohanayouroukou@gmail.com. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.
6. Children's privacy
ProBer is not directed at, and may not be used by, anyone under the age of 18. Because the platform involves in-app payments and, for providers, identity verification and independent contractor agreements, we require all users to confirm they are at least 18 years old when creating an account. If we learn that we have collected personal data from someone under 18, we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and role-based access controls that limit which staff can access sensitive data such as verification documents or support tickets. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to continuously review and improve our safeguards. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect a new feature or a change in applicable law. If we make material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
